I just peeked in the kitchen and here's what I see. Not sure how all this is going together, but the aroma is tantalizing.
There are four chicken pieces simmering in sauce in the Dutch oven. Next to that are three packages of fresh pasta, all different cuts.
Also a pan with about six mini-beef patties which have been cooked with herbs. Looks like parsley. Might be an appetizer?
Roasting in the oven are tomatoes, garlic, and basil. Also chestnuts.
The RG is off to WF to buy sparkling water and something else, can't recall. I can tell you one thing: it's not chocolate because I requested it and the answer was no. So I guess I will leave to buy chocolate now.
Sniff. Have to buy my own chocolate.

(1,706 posts)I spatchcocked it and rubbed it with a mixture of sumac, thyme, kosher salt, pepper and olive oil, and will squeeze a lemon over it before it goes in the oven. I'm also roasting some sweet potato cubes, and the starter will be the first grapefruit of the season. Time to start now!

(22,031 posts)Thanks for that, Cairycat.
For years, I've cut chops, steaks and fowl into thinner pieces of meat in order to diminish the cooking time. Obviously, the thinner the meat the quicker it will cook. I just didn't know the technical term for it.
Your preparation sounds delicious and I will try it soon. Thanks!

That's a great dish.
Can I come over for left-overs?!
Come on down to Claremore, OK, and I will feed you like family. If you're in the neighborhood, drop by!

(22,031 posts)You've got a special cook!
But so do I. Nonetheless, tonight I'm cooking because the Landlady(!) is rehearsing for a holiday production of The Nutcracker ballet. She has a comedic cameo role as The Maid. Ergo, I have to cook.
Here's what I found in the fridge:
One Crab Cake (about the size of a very small hamburger)
1/2 pound of cooked filet mignon
3 spears of broccoli
4 small red potatoes
1 medium-sized Vidalia onion
4 pearl-sized tomatoes from our garden, (probably the last ones for this year)
Yesterday, she baked an apple pie and we have vanilla ice cream and a bit of Wisconsin cheddar cheese.
She'll be home about 8:30 and I think the apartment will smell awfully nice when she walks in.
Regardless, I'll eat it even if she won't! (wink)

(22,031 posts)We need optimism-- and good food!-- in this screwed up world. I like your Will Rogers quote, too.
Enjoy your day, yellerpup!
