What's for Dinner Sat., Dec. 15, 2018
Lamb flanks. The RG put them in the slow cooker last night and we had them just a short time ago. Potatoes, carrot, and the most incredible stew sauce.
Later on tonight, I'll make a salad. Tonight's salad with be with radishes I picked from the garden Friday. It's mango-radish salad with cucumber. Has a lemon and olive oil dressing. ![]()

1. pork sirloin roast
w/ roasted red potatoes, corn and pickled beets.
The pork was quite a bargain. It was a 1 3/4 lb. boneless roast and we paid $3 for it. We're going to get 2 meals out of it. |

4. "Middle Eastern Lentils & Rice
with leeks and spinach" from Melissa Clark's Comfort In An Instant. You're supposed to get the leeks good and brown on the saute function of the Instant Pot, but that wasn't happening. I think it will taste good though. Dessert is caramel apple bread pudding.
A big day in the kitchen for me - I made four jars of dulce de leche for gifts, and four dozen pierogies for Christmas Eve. Also made some blackberry and lime infused water. |

5. Ham beans
Last edited Sat Dec 15, 2018, 07:57 PM - Edit history (1) I am on my own, as TJ is going to work at 11 tonight and FLFC is sound asleep next to me on his pillows. It is unusually quiet and I like it for a change.
I'm making ham and bean soup. Great Northern Beans and a lot of ham leftovers from the freezer. It is made with chicken stock, carrots, celery, onion and garlic plus some bay leaves and sage. It is just the thing for this cold rainy night, but it is not quite done yet. ![]() Edit to add: Cornbread now in the oven. |

9. Kids came over to help celebrate Dad's birthday so we had mac and cheese , Chicken tenders,
salad and watermelon... all homemade. I made enormous amount of food. And it is all gone! They took leftovers home.
