What's for Dinner, Sat., Jan. 5, 2018

Last edited Sun Jan 6, 2019, 01:27 PM - Edit history (1)

We're going for dinner at our friends' house, nearby. She is an excellent cook and is making chicken scarpariello. The RG made a dish to take: ragu sauce with pasta. He already made it and I tasted it: turned out great.

Chicken scarpariello is chicken breasts cooked with wine, an herb, usually rosemary, shallots and garlic.

These people are old friends. We'll have a great time; always do.

I need to look that one up.
For me, crab-and-shrimp salad, for Hubby, fried flounder, rice, and some veg or other.

Tomatoes, onions, sweets, carrots& broccoli on top of cauliflower rice.
Low carb-ing the main so I will enjoy the garkic butter naan.

Been intrigued by it for years, got to try it recently, so thought I'd try it at home. Top of Iowa sirloin for the meat (no idea what that's called in other parts of the country - a relatively tender cut of sirloin), rice, carrots, cucumber, shiitake mushrooms, radishes and spinach. We have some kim chee in the fridge for a side dish, and some nice Czech-style Pilsner brewed an hour away from here to drink.

We met one of my finest and oldest friends for dinner last night and we went to The Landmarc in the Time Warner Building in Columbus Circle.

It was fantastic! They've resisted the current trend of noisy spaces and the views of the Circle and Central Park were terrific. The Landlady(!) had their Mediterranean salad and the braised lamb shank. I had the escargots and the skirt steak. My friend had the kale Caesar (gag me) and the orecchiette all norcina. Everything was superb, (except the kale although my friend finished it). Loved the place and I'd recommend it with this caveat: I picked up the check and I'm happy that it can be classified as a business expense.
