What's for Dinner, Sat., Feb. 9, 2019

We are having a dinner party this afternoon with friends who just got back from 2 weeks in Israel. We hope to hear about the trip today.

Here's what I see the RG preparing in the kitchen:

Lamb chops (the lollipop style)
Pasta con mortadella e pistacchi
and one other pasta dish with tomato sauce

I see a stack of brioche bread; not sure what that's being used for.

Baby arugula.

Zucchini, sliced, in olive oil.

Asparagus.

I don't see any dessert, but then our guest likes to make dessert so maybe she will bring something.

He made a very large pot of 15-bean soup (I had a ham bone in the freezer that I took out last night to thaw and he used that) and he made corn muffins.

There's a LOT of soup. Some for the freezer and some to bring to my folks when I go there on Monday.

I'm foraging again. TJ is off to work the night shift at the hospital medical labs.
It's all leftovers.

Chicken Leg baked with a hot sauce coating
Baked Potato
Collard greens

Ginger Snaps and Earl Grey tea

----------------------

FLFC has turned his nose up at all offered. I don't know what he and TJ might have eaten earlier. He's telling me he's hungry, but I suspect it is for a peanut butter bacon flavored treat. A different kind of hunger, but very compelling (for him).

My son is visiting for the weekend and he wanted to go to a NY steakhouse for dinner. We were too tired to take him out but we had some fantastic NY strip steaks in the freezer and I broiled them to a perfect rare/medium rare.

The Landlady(!) is an expert fryer and made sweet potato fries. We had just enough asparagus left so that got steamed. As a refresher, I made a Caesar salad including the anchovies, (yum!).

Strawberry fruit pops for dessert. Then we stayed up too late listening to music and talking. Fun times!
