(22,034 posts)I might substitute fresh crab meat, if available or perhaps the meat that comes in the ziplock-type of bags. But still, any crab cake is better than none!
The clementines sound like the perfect light accompaniment.
Enjoy, Botany.

(70,501 posts)My local grocery store has 1 pound cans of American waters crab meat
for about $16.00.
BTW I forgot wine too.

(22,034 posts)Of course, you have wine! Who wouldn't!
Your store has a pretty good deal on those cans of crab. I was thinking of the cans about the size of a tuna can that have the crab meat wrapped in paper. Yours sound much better.

First, a large salad of Romaine and baby spinach with sliced carrots, chopped celery, cherry tomatoes, sliced green pepper, minced red onion, sliced pimento-stuffed olives and sliced almonds. Drizzled over these greens will be a creamy vinaigrette and croutons on top.
Then, angel hair pasta with a homemade pesto sauce the Landlady(!) made last summer and froze. I'll add some pine nuts to it. We had sushi last night and there were 6 pieces of salmon left-over so I'll pan sear those and put them on the side with some lemon and dill.
Cookies for dessert.
We have a deal in our kitchen: one of us cooks and the other cleans up. It's reciprocal and seems fair to us!

(12,253 posts)Made with the carcass of our Sunday duck, white beans, carrots, celery, garlic, and herbs de Provence. Simmering now and it smells as beautiful as that butt-kickin' broth.
Beef tacos.
FLFC had some of the beef before it was seasoned. Bacon and cheese flavored treat for dessert.
