When ordering Chinese take-out w/ friends, no one ever wants to order it. The only time I get to have it is from a buffet, and then I'll only take it if it looks like it hasn't been sitting there all day.

I made a pasta dish. While the spaghetti was cooking, I crisped up 2 slices bacon in a large skillet, removed the bacon saving the fat. I added a few (maybe 3) tbsp. butter and about a tbsp. olive oil, red pepper flakes, minced garlic and broccoli florets, black pepper and a little bit of salt. I reserved some of the pasta water, strained the pasta and added it to the pan w/ the broccoli mixture w/ some of the pasta water. Removed from heat and added 2 or 3 handfuls of grated parm and the crumbled up bacon.

I guess it's an eggless carbonara w/ broccoli. It was pretty tasty. Served w/ garlic bread.

Oh... and alert the media.... I MADE DESSERT!!!!

Bread pudding w/ a layer of bananas in the middle. Al picked up some vanilla ice cream to go w/ it.

We watched an episode of America's Test Kitchen last week and they gave the recipe for beef and stout pie. I'm going to try it some day.

So I had a “beer date” at an Irish Pub with a cop. We had awesome stew stuffed in puff pastry and garlic fries on the side. Hitting a bar close to the house for dessert! 😜
