What's for Dinner, Tues., April 9, 2019

That Korean meal I had last night was so fantastic that I'm tempted to order out from them, but I feel like I really should try something different for my last night here. However, I wanted to mention a couple things about this place. First, they serve the meal in a stone bowl. This bowl was so hot that my meal stayed warm for the entire time I was there. In fact the bowl was still so hot to the touch when I was done that I could barely touch it. It also had another nice effect: there was rice on the bottom and the stone bowl turned it slightly brown. Was it ever good--in effect, caramelized rice!

The dish I had was piled high with veggies and had beef in the middle. It also came with six little bowls of dishes like noodles, bean sprouts as a salad, chili-garlic paste, radishes, marinated, but not your typical American red radish. This was some type of larger Korean radish. Corn salad. There was a lot there.

They had a scallion pancake and dumplings that I wanted to try so if I do go there again tonight, that's what I'll order.

I suppose it's scalloped potatoes, but I've never made them like this before.

I've always put onions in my sp, and very often ham. This time instead of ham, I used sliced sweet Italian sausage, and along w/ the onions I added some sweet bell pepper and some black olives. In the cream sauce is just a hint of yellow mustard.

With that, we're having green beans sautéed w/ cherry tomatoes and garlic with just a hint of lemon zest.

I have no idea about dessert. I've been eying a box of brownie mix....

3. I'm so jealous. When I used to go to Korea for work I loved the food.

Of course I love garlic, I'm sure when I came home to the US I probably smelled like garlic for a week. I loved the BBQ eel (which isn't actually eel, it's a long fish) & of course kimchi. There's ALWAYS a jar of kimchi in my refrigerator, thankfully we have a local produce market owned by an Asian family & they make it themselves.

I'm jealous because there aren't any Korean restaurants where I live. You're lucky!

I had at a potluck last summer. It is better with fresh tomatoes & garden picked zukes.

Cooked curly pasta mixed with 1 canned Italian style tomatoes, 1 mediun zuke, cut in 1/4, onion, garlic, more Italian seasoning, mixed with vegan italian style 'sausage'. Heated through, then in an oiled casserole 350/20 min, parmesian cheese curls & some halved cherry tomatoes, under the broiler for 10 min. More cheese next time, and maybe basil leaves
