After a fair amount of talk about it, I found a package of Beyond...

sausages in my local ShopRite. No burgers that I could see, so I got the sausages.

First bite had me wondering what the casing was made out of. Surely not the usual pig intestine. Maybe it was the same stuff "skinless" franks are stuffed into.

The next thing I noticed was it really sucked. Really, really sucked. Tasted like crabgrass and beach sand. I was thinking maybe it was expired or coked wrong, but that wasn't the problem. What was the problem was that I couldn't finish even one of the two I cooked.

Now, I do know a little about sausage. I spent a lot of time dealing with bratwurst, bockwurst, blutwurst, bauernwurst, and many others. I now live in a town that has two Polish butchers with maybe 50 kinds of sausage I can't pronounce. And, of course there are the omnipresent Italian sausages you can't avoid.

Beyond sausage didn't come close to any of them.

So, find a butcher who can throw a few habaneros in fresh sausage.

When I get a Hot Queen City Mett or Sausage it is hot enough to suit me. I have a hot sense in my mouth. I love them.

All the other brands popular here, Johnson, etc Jalapeño are not hot at all.

How hot is hot? The rest of the family will not eat them because they are too hot, but being in the Cincinnati area they love Queen City with Horseradish on top.

Same way Skyline Chili does not appeal to me. Cinnamon I prefer Gold Star.

Plenty of heat, classic hot link taste, but what is your tolerance for red food dye?

These are the classic candy apple bass boat metal flake fire engine red - sausages. So if that's an issue ya may want to skip these. But they are widely available on line or in brick and mortar stores nationally.
Even Walmart online has them, as do Bill And Ralph Meats, which is more expensive but is not Walmart

I had Polk's Red and Brown Hot links a few times while I was in Louisiana - not quite as hot but the brown hot links in particular looked more like Earth Food and less like "It Came From Galaxy X" food - https://polksmeat.com/products

German Baptist fresh meat market. I go there, but prefer queen City.

Thought you could suggest another brand.

I will not buy the sausage again. I found the flavor seriously lacking, way way mild.

I will and have bought the burgers several times.

I don’t see the point of trying to make something taste like meat when there are so many good vegetarian options that stand on their own without trying to be meat.

the grocery store guy gave me a package when I complained about not being able to find the Beyond burger. Both the burger package and the sausage package were the last ones on the shelf. I was shocked when he told me the price on the sausages was $9!

But I love love love the Beyond burger and prefer it to the real thing.
