It was a "fend for yourself" kind of night.

For Dad, spaghetti w/ homemade sauce and sweet Italian sausage, and a garden salad (butter lettuce, red leaf lettuce, grape tomatoes, cucumbers, carrots, celery, broccoli and red onion).

We had another seafood extravaganza last night. The fresh seafood on Ocracoke Island is irresistible.

We made Ocracoke chowder. It has a clear broth and it's delicious. It's kind of like New England chowder but without the cream/milk.

Grilled mahi mahi with grilled broccoli served on white rice.

In North Carolina, wine is sold in the supermarket not the liquor store. Unfortunately, the selection at the local variety store was limited but we found a tasty sauvignon blanc to go with our meal.

A sliced apple and cheddar cheese rounded out the dinnerl.

One last day here in paradise then back north tomorrow.

First I did an image search for "Oracoke chowder" but didn't turn up much. Maybe one picture was of it, going by your description.

Then I did an image search on Oracoke Island; being a geographically-centric Northeasterner, I didn't know where it was. Wow, what a beautiful place. Just looking at the pictures relaxed me and put me in a "mood." Lucky, lucky you.
