I made up a couple cold plates. One is crackers with different kinds of spreads and toppings: some have pate with a little mayo and red onion; there is Swiss cheese on top of crackers. Some of the crackers have vegetable toppings decorating the spread, like a tsp of tiny cubes of cucumber mixed with dill. Halved cherry tomatoes. Besides the pate, there are some with sliced ham and some with slice chicken.
Then I made up a fruit plate with grapes, melon, and sliced apple.
Coleslaw made with Savoy cabbage; halved green grapes, shredded carrots, and cream dressing.
For dessert, the last of my chocolate cheesecake that was such a disappointment. One of our posters suggested adding peanut butter, so I found there is such a thing as whipped cream with Reese's peanut butter in it. I put that on top and it solved the "disappointment" problem.

(68,543 posts)must say, this was one of the best chicken soups I have ever made. The seasoning which I find difficult at times was perfect. I mostly followed the recipe. I saved it so I can make it again. It was very simple but delicious. We also had gluten free cornbread made light with Greek yogurt instead of oil or butter, grapes and salad. For dessert we had coconut macaroons. It was really hot here in Ohio...first day October...in the 90's. we broke the record which was 87...but the soup was strangely satisfying. My daughter has a cold ...usually with heat like this I would grill or make a salad...but it worked out.

Pound some steaks with a meat hammer then coat in flour and fry on each side until golden. Make the gravy in the same pan and use the remains of the frying.
Mashed potatoes and a simple salad completed the meal.
