Golden Milk Latte

A nice alternative to hot chocolate, coffee on a cold day.

Here's the recipe that I used. I did not add the espresso, didn't want the caffeine. There's many recipes out there, some calling for coconut milk, some almond milk. The recipe looks very forgiving, so you can personalize it to your taste.

Ingredients
1 quart whole milk
2 tablespoons sugar
2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
2 teaspoons ground ginger
2 teaspoons ground turmeric
1/2 teaspoon ground cardamom
1/4 teaspoon ground allspice
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1/8 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
Instant espresso powder, as desired

Directions
Add the milk to a medium saucepan over medium heat. Bring to a simmer, stirring frequently, being careful it does not scorch on the bottom. Then, add the sugar, cinnamon, ginger, turmeric, cardamom, allspice, nutmeg and black pepper. Whisk to combine. When the spices are dissolved and the milk is steaming, remove from the heat and serve. At this point you can mix in the instant espresso powder according to the package instructions if desired.

Most of us have the ingredients. And if you omit one, the latte still tastes good.

The first batch I made, I had some half and half leftover from another recipe, so I used that and skimmed milk. Yummy!
