Screamin deal on frozen fruit equals winter smoothies!

Safeway offered one pound bags of frozen fruit for $1.99ea if you bought four. I got blueberries, raspberries, peaches and pineapple chunks.

I also got a quart of lemon cream greek yogurt. Drinking my first concoction now.

Pineapple and peaches with the lemon cream yogurt and fresh squeezed grapefruit juice. It blended up perfectly and is not too tart even tho I didn’t add honey or any kind of sweetener. The grapefruits I have are pretty sweet actually.

I need to get some other juices to make other flavor combos but looking forward to a lemon cream/blueberry smoothie. Maybe use green tea in that one. ??

Do you have a fav smoothie combo?

I never thought of lemon blueberry combo in a smoothie, even though lemon blueberry muffins are the BOMB!

I will have to see what I've got hiding in my freezer

It goes well with a little can of coconut milk instead of yogurt.

Cardamom in is cinnamon rolls.

Does this go better with certain combos or does it work with all? I’m intrigued!

dates or honey or figs, frozen wild blueberries (only tiny wild blueberries) and then you add your veggie that is mild like baby spinach. Less than 1/2 tsp of cardamon should do it. Or to taste. It is an aquired taste. Made it for my parents too and they liked it. It is not for a really sweet smoothie or a really savory one. It is in the middle.

every morning is (unsweetened) almond milk, frozen berries (usually blueberries, but sometimes a mixture of blueberries, raspberries, blackberries, strawberries, cherries) and a scoop of special mix I make from herbs, proteins and mushrooms

There were frozen avacado chunks that I will probably get to try some green smoothies with. Those I might add mushroom powder to. One can get real creative, right?

Thanks for your reply.

Will keep that in mind. Maybe can find some orange yogurt to put it in. I like those flavors together.

Merry Christmas!

green nutrition without cooking or chewing!

my normal recipe is a handful of cooked carrot chunks (one carrot), a handful of strawberries, a palmful of blueberries, same with cranberries if I have them, a BIG handful of baby spinach, a few ounces of tart cherry juice and a little water, milk or iced tea. then depending on how tart the fruit is I add a few dates, a 1/4 cup of plain yogurt and ice.

10. My go to is plain yogurt

Because it can be sweetened with honey and is so much better than the vanilla flavor. Plain can be used to make tzatziki sauce too. If using for smoothies can sweeten with the fruit or honey.

I got some local figs late summer and had then with yogurt, honey and granola! Was heaven in a bowl!
