Cooking & Baking
Related: About this forumI baked cookies today
I never bake, and there's a reason for that--I usually mess it up.
I missed an ingredient in the peanut butter cookie recipe--brown sugar. (When I copied it from my computer screen, I forgot to write down one of the ingredients. Next time, I'll send the link to my phone.)
I realized this when the first tray was 1/2 way through the bake. I decided to turn them into peanut butter & jelly cookies. So before the cookies finished baking, I took them out of the oven and made a little well in them. I put them back in the oven to finish baking.
After they came out of the oven and cooled for a while, I spooned a little raspberry preserves (warmed in the microwave) into each well.
The texture is a little off a little on the cookies, but they are edible--tasty in fact.
I kind of like that hey have 1/2 the sugar. I think too many people have too much sugar in their diets anyway.
So... guess what's for dessert tonight.

(55,006 posts)last time he made peanutbutter cookies, he forgot the actual butter. still had the peanutbutter but not the other fat. so his were "low" fat. they had the texture of sandies but were still pretty tasty. cookies are pretty forgiving, I guess.

I like your solution and I agree, we do have far too much sugar in our diets.
