(46,067 posts)I'm in NJ and I finally have mastered the perfect Southern biscuit.
First, I "imported" White Lily Flour. Next, taking a hint from online, I now grate frozen unsalted butter into the flour. Finally, I knead them only 6 to 7 times, to build layers into them.
My biscuits are the perfect shape, height, texture, color, taste.
I may not return to toast, bagels, rolls, or the so-called Pillsbury biscuits.
I originally made them for the pot likker for my greens, but hey! Biscuits are perfect for fried eggs and bacon.

(38,546 posts)There's some things that didn't get purchased that I use almost every day (part of my temper-tantrum yesterday) and since we don't shop again until the end of the month, I'll need to improvise.
Don't get me wrong--there's plenty of food. I'll figure something out.
I could make an omelet, I guess.

(6,793 posts)Makes no matter, an omelette will soothe your frustrated soul. Me, I am back to cottage cheese and blueberries, a bagel, coffee with cream.

Iced decaf.
On edit: congrats on your biscuits, no_hypocrisy!! Nothing like a flaky, warm biscuit.

(17,427 posts)I'm not allowed Ibuprofen any more, and I miss it. I've been up a while but just getting on DU.
I think I'll have some sugar free shredded wheat with blueberries and low fat milk in a while.
FLFC was lobbying to go out early. He was so excited dancing around he was falling down. He managed to get scritches from a neighbor who was on the way to work. Now that we are safe from the birds he is snoozing on the couch. I am envious of how easily he sleeps.
