What's for Dinner, Tues., Nov. 3, 2020

We're just having casual food while we watch the returns come in. The RG is objecting to a straight diet of news and has suggested we watch a Sean Connery movie. Not too sure about that; being a hardcore political junkie, I think I can take the straight news. Here's what we're having:

The RG makes really good nachos, where he puts each individual chip on a baking sheet and puts the cheese, ground pork, jalapenos, etc. on them individually.

In addition, we're making guacamole.

We're having other people in our "pod" stop by so we're going to put out two pizzas, too. One is thin crust caramelized onion and mushroom with gruyere and the other is a margherita.

I have some small peppers that I'm stuffing with crab cream cheese dip. I tried it out on crackers and it passed the test.

A couple of hours of prep time to keep me from going crazy. Plus we made it a family thing. Got the kids involved.

I’m making Asian baby back ribs...pasta aglio e olio and a big green salad. No pod coming over...just me, the hubs and our teenage son. I am really anxious about returns...my dog know it. He hasn’t left my side, thank goodness.

from fruit of one of my apple trees and my garden's bumper squash harvest. Then I'm going celebratory with grilled rib eye, baked potato and the last of the tomatoes from summer's garden. Carlo Rossi Burgundy, not to exceed one glass for every battleground state called for Joe that flips from the Klansman.

10. An All-American Dinner for Election Day

Appetizers:
Vegetable crudités including carrots, celery, various olives and sliced radishes. Without American farmers, we wouldn't be able to eat so well.

Entree:
Four meat loaf with ground pork, beef, veal and lamb along with whisked eggs and bread crumbs. They're all blended together symbolizing America's melting pot of diverse peoples.

Mashed potatoes representing Trump and the GOP after Biden/Harris and American voters have finished smashing them.

Steamed green beans with the hope that President Biden will lead us into a greener future.

Beverages:
Yuengling beer with dinner. It's the oldest operating brewing company in the United States.

After dinner, Evan Williams bourbon with ginger ale on the rocks. It's from Kentucky and I'm hoping for a big surprise upset in the Bluegrass State.

Dessert:
Apple pie with Wisconsin cheddar cheese. C'mon, Badgers! Give the Democrats some love!
