How to hang a stained glass picture

My friend made me a lovely stained-glass piece and I want to hang it in front of a window. Problem is, our window frames are metal! How can we do this? I'm getting tired of looking at it in the closet.

1. If you have wooden window frames, no problem. You can just put in some sturdy hooks

and hang it that way. I live in a "pueblo style" house with neither frames nor sills, so I've put screw anchors in the wall to hold the hooks. You suspend the stained glass with either super strength fishing line or chain, I've used both.

My oldest piece of stained glass is about 40, still hanging in the front window after multiple moves.

2. My window frames are METAL.

If they were wood, we would know what to do. I'm pretty sure we're not going to move at this point.

4. Yes, I have metal casement windows

The frame I'm referring to is the trim around the window in sensible houses, metal as well as wood or vinyl. My windows have no trim, just curved plaster that ends at the metal window, so I needed to use screw anchors to mount the hooks.

Obviously, if you can mount the hooks into wood, they will be more secure. However, if you don't have that option, screw anchors will work.

My husband attached it to the wall right above the window. It's not elegant but it's up, and I can enjoy it.

Actually the cable and many of the specialty parts can be found at yer local home depot ,hardware store what have you. With them hooks you can even tag into a curtain rod of some such thing! Here is the thing, this method is what they call art de co these days meaning very much in fashion. Been in use in construction for a long time ,example ,hanging suspended lighting from high ceiling or vault ceiling say 16 feet more or less !

I'm thinking you can have your piece hung and add to it in the same way one would buy an unframed painting than go out and find just the perfect frame. And it's fairly inexpensive to do. And thinking creatively is fun ! So have some fun !
