1. We have a Lopi Endeavor woodstove.

It heats our 1,600 sq ft rancher. So happy with it plus we just love the whole homestead fire scene. Sappy, I know but we get our joy where we can.

2. Truth be known, I just went thru 96 hours with no power and a 20" snow dump.

My Core stove handled things fine. Did not fire the D/S stove....only in extra cold times.

I am in way Northern NY and it gets Brrrrrrrr cold on the shore of Lake Ontario but we have only had smattering of snow.

4. That sounds nice. I would cast out an "alas" about us not being able to have wood fires anymore

but I recognize the bigger picture... My city/county/region has air quality issues, and restrictions which accompany them. I don't begrudge it, but there's nostalgia about fires in the fireplace when I was a kid.

When we did a remodel a few years ago we had to put a gas insert into our fireplace to meet code. It heats the room (and adjacent rooms) nicely and looks fine and is convenient on/off, but it isn't the same by a long shot.

I've got relatives in the Sierras and San Gabriels who still have wood stoves and wood fireplaces, so I get my "fix" when we visit them in the fall or winter.

5. Ours meets EPA standards for clean burn.

Unbelievable difference in smoke output from our last stove.

6. You know, I never investigated *stoves* per se, our issue was remodelling involving a masonry

fireplace/chimney specifically, so I didn't pay attention to the rest of the rules. I can't imagine it would be allowed. (Well, I can imagine; I'm often wrong)

But I'm in a dense suburbia with gas service to every home and no excess timber of any kind to speak of, so it's sort of a moot point on the fuel side anyhow...
