What does it mean when the watermelon turns from green to all yellow?

It is still growing but some of the fruits are all yellow now.

1. are they full size or smaller?

some varieties turn yellow when ripe, if it's big, cut into one and see if it's ready.

any problems with the leaves?

If they're small and yellowing, then you've got something else going on.

2. When I grew them

here in Arizona, the ones in direct, ferocious sunlight all day did that. They also got kinda nasty. I suspect that the continuous light and heat cooked them.
