Grafting

Last edited Wed Mar 12, 2014, 12:35 PM - Edit history (1)

Has anyone here tried grafting with fruit trees or anything else? I just went to a grafting class (we did apple tree grafts) a little over two weeks ago and to my amazement and delight, both of my two grafts "took". I didn't think either one would so I was very happily surprised. Now I'd like to start grafting a great many more trees, bushes, etc.

I have just bought those things already commercially grafted. It is something I'd like to try at some point.

when nurseries, etc., are offering classes in grafting and pruning. Just google grafting and your state or nearby ones to hopefully find some in your area.

..... have a sharp knife and make sure you get a nice long 45 degree cut on both ends.

BTW the future is in not in grafted trees and shrubs but in native trees and shrubs that
are straight species and that are ON THEIR OWN ROOTS. aka from seed
