Anyone know about pussywillows? A mystical plant... And my

sister sent me a grafted tree (from Canada to TX) just out of the blue because she knows I have always loved them. Reminds me of the northeast in spring.

Directions say don't plant til after frost danger.

But the blooms look crazy to me. Like a fail??? Have never seen irratic
blooms like this...

1. Yes, those are strange. Are they upside down? They look like a bad hair day.

Pussywild.

2. I've always liked the song . . .

Though that's probably not what you were after.

Thanks for spurring a memory, however.

4. I'm guessing that since it's grafted onto what?, it shouldn't go into the ground until after frost

Pussy willows have lovely little fluffy tufts at the beginning of spring. After that, they just get green leaves.
I have always loved seeing the spring bloom. The rest of the year they are unimpressive.
Had some in my backyard that I brought from my motherís house after she died.

5. Neat! Haven't ever seen them 'live,'

but had them @ home in a special vase when I was a kid, so recently replaced them in that same vase to remember my parents in our first home (Brooklyn apartment.)

9. Where'd you grow up? DC or Maryland? In the northeast

including PA, they were everywhere in spring by the brooks.

11. Jealous!!!! How was growing up there?

My parents grew up in Hartford and then moved to suburbs - 9 miles away. My mom actually thought there'd be bears there.

I have always been attracted to cities for some reason. And Brooklyn just seems so romantic to me.

Pussy willows grow wild in spring near water.

13. Was young when there, didn't spend enough time @ Prospect Park.

Remember playing in 'yard' between high-rise apartment buildings; our apartment was on 2d floor.

Moved to Long Island after my mother died, but do still have memories and vase (for pussy willows.)

(My adopted mother was born in Bridgeport.)

Am a combo-person, I guess, as Dad's office was in Manhattan; we visited 'the city' often, including with high school classmates.

Am now in a DC 'exurb;' no bears here, some foxes (occasionally.)

14. Yes... NYC as teens! We would get on train just to get to

Grand Central because you could drink in the bar there before you were 18

Sorry you lost your mom so young.

17. NO PROBLEM!

(but my adoptive mother, who grew up in/around Bridgeport, was a bit concerned; Dad, born + lived in the City forever, was NOT!)

21. Thanks! That answers my questions. Like said here

.. The warmth and light in the house has caused it to prematurely blossom.

Makes so much sense now that the ones you see cut are cut at prime time before blossoming. Because the buds are all uniform furry little balls.

I have enjoyed everyday since the 20th.

The insurrection was the last straw for many. Fux Youz is failing. Prison time. For everyone but trump. Thatís what Mr Lake says.

Yes, it's a great time for political junkies! And Dipshit went from having the biggest megaphone in history to yelling at Melania and bragging and cheating on his golf course with rich buddies.

7. If you have them inside

the warmth and light may be forcing them to bloom ...

✌🏻

8. Yes, thought that as well. Talking about what I would

call deformed blooms.

I have seen pussy willows dozens and dozens of times and never have I seen these huge blooms with normal blooms

Just thought someone might know.
