I buried my Good Dog Rook today

He was a Border Collie.
Rook was 14, and a lovely cheerful gentleman.
We shared good days together. 14 years worth.

He is at rest in a place in the yard where he ....rested in life.
I planted a spruce tree over him. I mixed sheep manure into the soil to give the tree a good start.
It might seem disrespectful to throw manure onto the dearly departed, except that Rook was quite a fan of sheep poop.

It's rather symbolic.

I'm very sorry for your loss. He lived a good long and happy life with you.

14 years is a pretty long and good life for a dog, and I'm sure those 14 years of companionship, unconditional love and mutual admiration will provide you with a lifetime of fond and well deserved memories. Best wishes.

May Rook watch over the flock as he doubtless did for many days and may you enjoy the good memories you have of his time with you.

We love them, knowing they will be gone before we are. Our animal friends just don't live long enough!

Rest in peace, Rook.

Rook had a good life with me. Isnt it great how a good dog will make himself a perfect fit for his human partner?

Our dog partners are better than we deserve. When I get gloomy, and question the goodness of the Universe, God, Life, Whatever......I think of dogs. Proof that this universe/ life is a loving place, and whatever Gods there might be are loving Gods.

Thank you guys.

It was nice to plant a tree. There is an Amazon legend that when one died, a tree was planted over her as a living memorial, as opposed to a stone, which is not a living thing.
