URGENT! Home desperately needed for 2 Sacramento cats.

[font color="navy" face="Verdana"]Home desperately needed for 2 Sacramento cats, neutered males, Alvin (gray, age 6) and Opie (orange, age 5). Their mom has fallen on hard times and had to give them up. Their foster mom can't keep them for more than another week.

I'd take them myself, but I already have four cats that are hostile to the idea and space is an issue. I've spent time with them both and they're mellow, friendly, and affectionate, comfortable around dogs and children. Shots are up to date and they're in perfect health.

Please don't let these beautiful, affectionate boys end up in the city shelter. If you can offer Alvin and Opie a home or know someone who can, please PM me and I'll put you in contact with their foster mom.

I wish you the best of luck in getting them a new forever home. Have you posted in the California forum yet? If not, post this there for fellow Californians to see. Also try your Vet-some take in cats and find homes for them. No kill shelters and rescue organizations are other alternatives to try as well. Good luck and let us know what happens.

[font color="navy" face="Verdana"]I did post in the California forum and the Lounge already. I've also asked my local contacts to post on their Facebook pages. No nibbles yet, though.

The neighbor who has them for now has already posted on craigslist and at her vet. She's a single mom working 2 jobs and already has a dog, and just can't keep them. I've been told that there aren't any no-kill shelters in the area, or I'd just recommend she take them there.

If I didn't already have 4 cats of my own and limited space, I'd take these two myself. My furkids get into occasional scraps as it is, though, and I'm really afraid that adding 2 more males to the mix just wouldn't work.

Fingers crossed that we find Opie and Alvin a wonderful new home together.

evil people will get them and sell them to labs for research or to those who would use them as "bait" for fighting dogs.

That sometimes even happens to the "free to good home" pets offered in ads in news papers.

[font color="navy" face="Verdana"]She placed the craigslist ad and I haven't even seen it.

Since I learned about the Fieldhaven Feline Center only 30 miles away and told her about it, she's switched her focus to getting them there. No bad people will get these beautiful boys.

Thanks!

[font color="navy" face="Verdana"]Especially cats, obviously.

There's definitely a risk among many animal lovers to be a little naive, and unwilling to face how evil and cruel some people can be.

I wish this information was better known. Most people mean well, and do not realize what can actually happen to their pets.

If so, she might want to contact some of the rescue groups that have adoption events to see if she can join them one weekend soon to see if she can get the cats adopted out. She might be able to funnel the adoptions through the rescue groups and let them collect the adoption fee.

Thanks!

Many times, the rescues who do not keep animals onsight at Petsmart during the week (but just do adoption events on weekends) are hard to locate. The management at the Petsmart should be able to put her in touch with ALL groups who do adoptions at their location, thus giving her a broader base of possibilities.

Best of luck!
