Finally got some funny videos of Yoshi in the snow

In this one he's beating up on his ladybug wiggly giggly ball... minus one Ms. Ladybug's legs since a few minutes before he accidently ripped one off...

This one he's chasing his own feet. He does this after trying to catch his tail and not being able to, so he goes after his own feet instead...

Does he get ice balls on his feet between the pads? When I was growing up in Massachusetts our dogs would get ice ball anklets, after spending time in the snow, because they had long fur. I thought maybe Yoshi was trying to reach that hind foot because it was getting packed with snow.

I watched the second one twice because it was so funny at :24- :40 he stops and looks around as if he's thinking " humans sure know how to make annoying noises!" (car horn alarm) then at 1:04 he steps on his snow-covered duck (?) and the horn blows once more at the same time. LOL!

The fur isn't long but it's super thick. There must be something special about the hairs of the coats of winter doggies. It's so well insulating that snow and even freezing rain doesn't melt when it falls on them, and they just shake it off. He can be out in a blizzard for hours with a big mound of snow on him, and he doesn't feel it, and when he feels like it he just shakes it off and he's dry. He can lay on ice or snow as well for a long time and it doesn't melt under him. They are very fussy about always cleaning their feet though so maybe in their natural environment that was how the breed developed (as well as Huskies and other winter breeds) perhaps they could get snow or ice accumulating between the pads and why they have this genetic need to be always cleaning their feet regardless of the weather.

He's always attacked his own feet. Usually it starts with tail chasing but because he never thinks to straighten it out so he can catch it he gives up and starts going after his feet. That's why I grabbed the camera again... I knew that when he started going for his tail in a minute or so he'd give up and start going for his own feet. Occasional he has caught the end of his tail, but then he stops and just stands there holding it like he's thinking "ok, I got it, now what?"

What's really funny when he goes after his feet which he only seems to do in the house is that he'll just be laying there doing nothing then suddenly start looking at his feet as if they were tempting little creatures like squirrels or bunnies. He'll even move them and twitch them to mimic little animals and actually stalk them before going for the kill while making his feet try to "run" away. He'll even roll on his back and grab and shake his own front paws, but by that time I can't stop from laughing... he'll only do this game if he forgets that I'm there - once I start laughing at him he stops and pretends nothing unusual was going on at all looking at me like "what? I've just been laying here having a nap."

I'll have to watch the video again and see about what you mentioned about the car horn. His goose does have a squeaker in it's belly that makes it honk like a goose when you squeeze it or stamp on it, but when it's outside for a long time and gets all snowy or damp it usually doesn't work until it's back in the house and warmed up again, and I think it was out there for hours already. He also has sort of similar creatures like the duck and the pheasant and I think what's supposed to be a partridge and they all make the same noise. For some reason he's decided that only the goose is fit for bringing outside. But there was also a car horn from the parking lot (that building right behind my yard comes to an end a hair past my gate and then there's the parking lot just passed a narrow grassy area. That building is an auto mechanic's garage built into the hill, so those windows just across from my fence are actually a good 20-30 feet up inside almost at the roof line. At the back of the building Yoshi can stand on his hind legs and look out across the roof (birds like to build nests up there). Often I wish the back of the building didn't end until a little farther on since I hate it when people in the lot just stare into our yards like we were zoo exhibits... people can be so damn rude.

Yeah, someone's damn car alarm is always going off in that parking lot. That one wasn't so bad since someone turned it off, but sometimes it goes on and on and on forever until the neighborhood dogs all start howling at it and I'm seriously contemplating going out there with a sledge hammer to take care of the offending vehicle myself.

My dog once had a toy I called an octopus... had a head/face with three long legs on each side. He'd grab it by the snout and shake violently. The legs would beat him about the face. He thought he was being attacked and shook even harder. Too funny!
