new kitty needs a name!

He's a male, and on the small side at only 8.5 lbs, so nothing majestic like "simba". He has a squeaky little meow. He's orange tabby all over, with no white. I am terrible at deciding on names. What do you think I should name him? He's friendly and likes to run around and play. Seems to be settling in well after only 48 hrs.

Or maybe Bertie
I tend to like unusual or odd human names for pets.

Whatever you decide to name him, I think the two of you will be very happy.

In my family orange cats are named Frederick, started in the 70s. Note my DU alias Freddie for our current orange boy. We also have an orange-and-white boy named Riley.
On edit: he's a dead ringer for my daughter's cat Edward; she got him at the height of the Twilight craze.

Or Teddy

Or Mario, Arlo, Alfie, Pippin, and Finn!

Today I am thinking of something starting with M.

He does look like a Cecil, whatever that might be. Maybe i should be thinking of names that begin with C.

Here is my list so far: Finn, Pip, Misha, Alfie, Benji, Teddy, Freddy, Loki, Arlo, and Mario. Nothing with a C.

And I thought that would be a good name for an affectionate cat.

I was thinking Teddy or Freddy but my husband didn't like those. He liked Buddy and Quincy and I didn't like those. I wanted something with an "ee" sound at the end.

It's simple, easy to say, and I added names from the short list as middle names to jazz it up: Eddie Dewey O'Riley and then our last name. Why not?

Now I can make that first vet appointment. You can't do that without a name!
