Related: About this forumCaptain Morgan is at that age where he wants to be near me, doesn't want to be
held at times, he just wants to play with the computer cords or the printer. If he would go off and play that would be good. Or stick around and sit on my lap - great! But no. He has to attack my computer constantly. How to real parents deal with teenagers I do not know. This cat is exhausting me. He has just discovered attacking me when he is frustrated. Thankfully if I say 'outch' and make a big deal of it he backs off. We are definitely in the teenage years.

(112,102 posts)enjoying the attention that I give her, but when my brother is around she gets all hyped up and is ready to pounce, scratch and chew on everything. We haven't got her spayed yet (she is only six months old) so I don't want to think what will happen if she ever goes into heat.

(118,614 posts)used to attention from me and licks from Twilight. So I think he is frustrated that life isn't as rewarding as it was as a kitten. He keeps looking for novel 'toys' to play with. I can't let him outside so he's just going to have to calm down and learn to chill out.

(60,010 posts)We took in a feral that had been hanging around the neighbor's porch for a few weeks, The neighbor fed her on the porch but would not pay her any other attention.
The MINUTE I said to Mr. Dixie " We have room for another cat, why don't I go next door and see if she wants to be indoors"
that cat walked down the hill and onto my porch.
No kidding.
So, we took her in.
It was a Wed.
Looked to be about 4 mos. old.
2 days later she went into heat.
as in 24/7 yowling.
Drove the dog nutz...she was giving him attention he had no intention...or means...of dealing with.
Finally got her to the vet's and fixed, and he affirmed cats can go into heat a LOT younger than 6 months.

(112,102 posts)early. We brought her inside when she was probably about a month old back at the end of May. She was starving and appeared to have been abandoned plus it was when we were having flooding in this part of Texas so we didn't want her outside during the storm. There haven't been any other cats around her so the chances of her getting pregnant sre zero.
I do know the signs to watch for when it is time. The calico (the one in the left corner of my sig line) went into heat at about 10 months and her brother was also around so we didn't have any time to waste there since he tried mounting her a few times. However, I don't like dealing with a cat in heat--it seems like it is torture for the cat when it happens. She just crawled into my lap again though so I have cut this short.
