Changing an animal's food suddenly can have unforeseen consequences like temporary digestive issues, not good for elderly anybody. Your vet might be able to prescribe an anti inflammatory or pain drug combo that would keep them feeling good and acting frisky.

I had a German Shepherd that I gave arthritis medicine to and it helped. You can get it from the vet or go to a high quality pet store and get more natural meds. I went to the pet food store because it gave me the chance to see what was in the ingredients. I also used salmon oil which helps also and has other benefits also.
