Euthanasia drug found in recalled dog food

The Food and Drug Administration announced on Monday that pentobarbital, a drug commonly used for euthanasia, has been reportedly found in recalled cans of organic dog food.

Last week, Party Animal dog food was notified that a customer had tested cans of Cocolicious chicken and beef dog food after the dog became ill. The test came back positive for pentobarbital, and Party Animal immediately pulled the product off shelves.

Party Animal also ordered a recall for the Cocolicious chicken and beef dog food, which has a lot Nos. #0136E15204 04 and 0134E15 237 13, and best by dates of either July 2019 or August 2019.

The company said that consumers with recalled products should return these cans for a full refund. The company added that it is doing additional testing on the recalled products to see if the incident was isolated.

Party Animal dog food said it has conducted testing on beef flavored products, with tests coming back negative for pentobarbital.

The dog food is sold at various retailers and online on sites such as Amazon.

supplier. Several small dogs died soon after their canned food meal. DNA test of the 'beef' food revealed horse DNA.

Hope this contaminated meat didn't make it into our human food supply.

Its very tempting for a meat supplier to toss couple hundred lbs of 'put to sleep' horse into the 'pet food' meat bins.

Reason this 'meat' kills animals is because the euthanasia phenobarbital is mixed with toxic chemicals(pink color) to deter theft of the product.

Frightening to think about why/how pentobarbital got into dog food. I guess that "organic" label doesn't mean squat!!

Very sad.

I have some organic cat food I bought for my cats.

One of them will eat it and they other two won't touch it.

It is Newmann's Own --

Worried as all hell now.

There is nothing organic about this crap they are calling "food"!!!

chicken backs, turkey/chicken necks, wings, pork chop, beef rib. bones and all. I give a small wing to small animal a large neck,or lg wing to my large dogs.

They love it, crunch the bones, their teeth stay cleaner, nice healthy coats and no skin allergy problems. (Must be raw, cooked bones will splinter & can hurt a animal!.) I buy whatever I can get for about $1 or $2 a pound on sale.

I still feed some canned/dry for one meal only because its convenient.

She's been sick and the vet gave me this B.S. crap to add to her food. She would eat it only if added to cooked chicken.

The vet told me off for doing this and said my new kitty would be a diabetic soon!

I have since time moved on to another vet believe me.

Who needs this sort of B.S.?? Not me that is for certain!!
