I am owned by two cats: the senior being a massive Maine Coon, the younger being a lanky Savannah Cat. Occasionally, I try out canned food instead of their usual kibble. Invariably, they'll both stare at the glop, poke it with a paw, sniff at it and then glare at me, asking "What is this stuff? Answer me that!"
Last week, Hastur The Unspeakable (Savannah) had to have dental surgery to remove his lower two fangs. Naturally, the vet ordered canned food for a few days. With trepidation, I bought a few single-serve cans. When Hastur came out of his post-anaesthesia grogginess the next day, I offered him some. Both cats tore into the stuff with a terrifying level of voracity. Soon, I had to give some to each of them, not just the one with the sore mouth. This kept up for several days and a dozen or so cans before I cried "Enough", and stopped providing gooshy food.
Hastur's protests were long and loud, as only a Savannah can do.
