I also get a laugh out of the suspicious sniffing the dog that went to the vet gets from the dog that stayed home.

Our vets' office is down the street and within walking distance. Several times our former Lab figured out how to tunnel under the fence in our yard and get loose until we figured out a way to prevent that. Anyway, one day we got a call from the vets' office ... "We have your dog here. She was outside the door.". Embarrassed, I apologized profusely when I came over to get her. They laughed and said they had never before seen a dog that ran away TO the vet's office.
