What is the history of past presidents and their pets?

Most of them seem to have had a dog or a cat while in office. Does the current pseudo prez dislike animals or (most likely) do they dislike him? I am fairly certain any pet he has/had would try their best to run away or perhaps no one will allow him to adopt due to animal abuse/cruelty.

The only other presidents who didn't have pets were Andrew Jackson (#7) and James K. Polk (#11). http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-3974940/Trump-president-without-pet-White-House-century.html

But I wouldn't want any animal to be Trump's pet; it certainly would not be treated kindly.

I was hoping he wouldn't bow to criticism and get one. He did promise Barron a dog, like President Obama did. And there's the difference between the two guys. I'm sorry, Barron, but it's best for the dog. Maybe you can have a pet when you and your mom are on your own.

To answer your question, the hatred is probably mutual. I wouldn't want any animal within 100 yards of him. It's bad enough poor Baron has to deal with him.

On the other hand, some presidents (like our beloved Obama) are wonderful pet-dads. Here are some great photos of him and Bo Obama...

I promised myself I wouldn't pass judgement or in any way disparage him, but it is not clear that given the environment within which he was raised--the narcissism and disregard for the needs/feelings of others from, at least, his father, that he would be "ready" for a dog. Honestly, given the ugly disregard for animal life from Eric and JR, can ANYONE really say my concerns are baseless?

Maybe it serves as his pet. My guess is its name is Combover.
