Kitty rescue update

We captured the 2 latest feral babies and they are now fixed and at the shelter, awaiting adoption. They quickly adapted to domestic life.

Their mom who got spayed and returned a couple of weeks ago is so much happier now.

Last month we had sent little Val off to a new home but that didn't work out.

Evidently she could not bear to be away from her family so she was horibly despressed. Just laid around, wouldn't acknowledge anyone, would barely eat. So we took her back and she is so happy to be here again. What else can you do, right?

Meanwhile, we took Grania in for her last shots and the vet got quite a surprise. Before, she had been quite mellow and easy to treat. Now she has developed a mind of her own and that mind says, "No way!" She scratched and bit everyone in the exam room and the doctor declared her to be a wild one. Not adoptable. So she will be staying in with us, too. She likes us.

Ah, well. They own me now. Every morning they spend hours bouncing off the walls and each other. Everything is a toy. I never thought cats felt strong family ties but these gitls seem tightly bonded; they are always together. If one wakes up and finds the others have moved elsewhere, she will cry and cry until she finds them.

Last week I got an email and the subject line said: “Former Circus Lion Needs Your Help.” I’m thinking to myself, “Oh geeze, I really don’t have room for one more in here right now…”

3. LOL! So when next week's update comes, should we expect pictures of the former

circus lion (and an explanation of why you ended up having to adopt him)?

4. My cat Andy is horrible at the vet

Hisses, yowls, tries to bite the vet and techs (they all wore the special gloves at his last exam). He’s a love bug at home, just gets freaked at the vets. She recommended a tranquilizer before his next checkup. I wouldn't take a bad experience at the vet as an indicator that a cat cannot be adopted.

22. Mine was playing very nice

7 year old boy. We took him to the vet, and put him on their steel table. He stayed there by him self all the time needed, and let the vet do what she needed - and even purring from time to time, happy since the table was nicely heated. We actually brought him to be put down, but the doctor said his pains were not so bad -and he got two more good years after that.

6. I run a TNR operation and right now have 15 beauties to find homes for.

It's a challenge, even if they are perfect.
I may be keeping six of them!

THANK YOU FOR DOING WHAT YOU DO!

19. Beautiful photos, beautiful kitties, beautiful you for taking care of them!

We raised four feral litters last spring/summer and we were NOT GOING TO KEEP ANY OF THEM.

Of course, one is beside me right now on the couch and I can't imagine life without him!

28. Mine now

are 3 sisters and a foster sister. Grania had a different mom but Princess took her in like one of her own, even nursed her, so they have all been together for several months now. It will be interesting to watch as they mature. Maybe I should write a book about it.

30. hmm

This makes me sad in a way. My sweet cat (rescued from the shelter three years ago) is lonesome, I think. We were told that she had lived with five other cats and at eight years old was not spayed, so we assume she had many litters. With so many cats in her life, she's very affectionate and likely was mama to many babies. I fear that she is lonesome. It would be difficult to have another cat; I would have to hide it from the landlord. LOL. And then there's always the possibility that I would bring home one that is a bad choice.

But it is such a human vanity that we separate loving cats from each other with impunity.
