Bordatella Vaccine - Diarrhea

For the first time in 2 years we had our Maltese spend the night in a boarding facility. The boards here all require Bordatella.

Note - when he adopted us as baby he had both Kennel Cough and Giardia. IE There's nothing I haven't seen with the little dictator.

He spent the night Saturday, was A OK when we picked him up Saturday. He took the pill last Monday.

Anyone's dog had a delayed reaction with diarrhea? Not blood red -yet. Getting there at 3:15 AM.

He's drinking water which is good - but I'm going to hold his Ziwipeak breakfast. He's sleeping on the back of my armchair right now over my shoulder.

Let me preface this by saying I work at a veterinary hospital and we also board pets. Sounds to me like the little guy experienced a little separation anxiety. Withhold food for 24 hours and then feed small amounts of chicken and rice for 24 hours. If diarrhea persists, he would need treatment with metronidazole or Proviable. That he is drinking water is a very good sign and he will probably be all better in 48 hours.

We'll try the withholding then white diet. It started late yesterday morning. My husband gave him so boiled chicken late afternoon.

His normal dinner is poached chicken breasts.

Plain nonfat Greek yogurt a couple of times a week. Just a taste - with blueberries.

He's good *cross fingers* For now. It stopped late afternoon yesterday.

And the sour smell is gone from his snout.

Poor little wolf pack guy.
