(22,511 posts)Remember the story about man deciding to accept animals in his life? A cow and calf approached the hut and the man saw his family could have milk, too, so he said the cow and calf could be part their lives. Then some chickens came and he saw his family could have eggs. He told the chickens they were welcome, too. A dog came next and immediately began barking at unseeable sounds and rustlings..The man felt his family and home would be much safer with the dog around,so he allowed it, too, to remain. Feeling better about life, he went inside to settle in with his family. Before he even sat down, he heard faint mewing outside his door. Opening it to investigate, three kittens raced in uninvited. They jumped on the table and helped themselves to a bowl of milk. They leaped straight from his sweeping hand onto the woodpile by the fire, dislodging logs across the floor. The children were mesmerized and each ran to grab a kitten. Oh, the kittens were soft as they played with the children's hair and buttons. The children laughed and encouraged the play. Father saw his family's happiness and thought, yes, they should stay even if they had no use. They were joy.
Cats have long been admired. They were first brought to North America by ship captains wanting to protect their cargo from mice and rats.
We are graced by their presence in our lives.
Having said that in all sincerity, this may also apply...
