of my squirrelly chocolate lab and a high maintenance border collie with long thick hair. It’s a friggin’ bargain. I tip $20 on top of that and am happy to do it. I so appreciate my dog’s groomer. She’s a saint.

plus tip, once a month. I have it done at my Vet’s Hospital. Sandy, my groomer, is Vet Tech certified. I know they will receive the best care.

Right now though she needs her nails cut and I have tried that at home in the past...DO NOT DO THIS! I would gladly pay to have nails cut since it is a bloodbath if you cut 1 mm too short.

Years ago, I had a mobile groomer come to my house to groom my Himalayan cat, Yeti. He fought like a tiger every time I tried to groom him. I was told when I called to make the appointment that I might be charged an "attitude fee" because cats were notorious. I agreed, so they came out. The groomer hooked up her RV to our power supply & got working on Yeti. I peered out of the window to see how much of an "attitude fee" I was going to have to cough up. What do I see? Yeti sitting on the table, serene as the Buddha Himself, eyes closed, letting her tear through his hair with a matting rake. She bathed him, dried him, fluffed him, even put a little red ribbon in his hair. He smelled marvelous. She gushed over how wonderful Yeti was, and that they would welcome him back any time. And no attitude fee!

I swear Yeti was smirking at me while she said it. But once she left, Yeti, with his little red bow bobbing along as he strutted, beat up the first unfortunate cat he came across, determined to prove he was no perfumed sissy. What a beast he was. I still miss him even after 10 years.

Over the years I’ve had 4 Maine Coons (3 purebred and 1 MC-type rescue) and 3 of them got mats no matter what I did, and had to get the summer lion cut. Plus the occasional unpleasant stuck-poop issue. Amazingly the 3 that got mats (Lucy, Dylan and Riley) were all very good for the groomer as well.
