I have one clever little kitty

Sophie Stinky Toe's new trick: If I forget to close the sock drawer, she steals multiple rolled up pairs and hides all but one. When I find that one, put it away and close the drawer, she waits a while and then brings out another pair. I couldn't figure out how she was opening and closing that drawer, until I found her 'stash'. Smart little moggy. Just not smart enough.

This is her world, and I'm just lucky she doesn't smother me in my sleep. At least that's what she tells me.

Stinky Toe, The Sock Thief! Love that kind of impish cat ingenuity.

My Newton likes to patrol the lower kitchen cabinets, and Tweedles is a ninja and expert at hiding.

4. I have a Cabinet Inspector also

He opens one of the large bottom cabinets, crawls over the Tupperware into the dead corner, comes behind the stacked drawers, sometimes pushing out a couple of them, and exits from the skinny vertical cabinet on the other side of the drawers.

I also have drawers in another cabinet with kitchen towels and washcloths, and linens. He goes in one stack of drawers and exits another. Again he crawls behind the drawers and pushes them out so he can fit.

He loves cave-like places in the covers too.

6. Hehe, is a deluxe network of spaces. Love it!

Newt would be jealz. I have upper shelves sufficiently crammed with stuffs. If he could get to the backs of the drawers, am sure he’d work ‘em. He’s allowed the lower run amongst the soda can packs and neglected stock pots, etc. Frequently, when I’m serving up wet food dinners, he’ll come by, swat open a cabinet door or two. I figure it’s his way of helping.

Tweed is Yard Master. How it is that my indoor cats came to be trained to stick around the back porch unattended for an hour at a time (mostly staying out of trouble - no squirrel or bird has been nabbed over the years) is a long and winding story for sometime later. But anyhow, she knows how to work the patio chairs and will bliss out with Daisy the dog in a sunny spot of the grass. Newtus is adept, too, but Tweed maximizes her OT, ‘outside time’.

8. Sometimes I get up in the morning

and every cabinet and drawer in the house are open. He has two bathrooms, a kitchen, two bedrooms of furniture and the living room.

And he has an ongoing fight with one of the corners of the rug.

I have nightlights in every room so I don’t trip or skin my shins on anything.

10. I know how it goes: It's my cats' house, and I just live there.

My folks' cat is a rug fighter, too. Fortunately, she reached a truce with the drapes last year.

Her project work also includes drinking from the faucet whilst a human is toothbrushing.

12. LOL! My cat drinks from the second faucet in the master bathroom

while I brush my teeth in my faucet. He really rules the place. Which is pretty apt since his name is King Tut.

She does have an electric fountain in another room, but prefers that BR faucet.

The fountain is fine, I’ve seen her drink from it that one time. Mucking around at the sink before going to bed? She’s there every time.

7. My son had a cat that would steal socks and

dunk them in her water bowl. She apparently could somehow open the sock drawer by herself.

Sock habit aside, Soph is in a little bed! Mine scoff at attempts to placate them with such digs. There's a couple of shipping boxes in the house about to fall apart from loving wear, though.

11. Ha! When I cat sit one of my sisters' cats

I have her special Amazon box all ready - complete with her scent and hair in it (she's a long hair tortie). She picked that as a sleeping spot a couple years ago (I offered her a selection and she picked one). She will refuse to use her cat bed that my sis will drop over when she brings kitteh, even if I stick it right next to the box.

Mine are the same way. My wee doggie owns the last cat bed we tried. Didn’t get two of them, because figured if one happened to accept it, the other would naturally desire it. Nope, neither was interested.

One Amazon box with flaps taped for added life, and a flap free one from gawd-knows-where are their preferred beds aside from the big one they share with their humans at night.

16. My same sister also has a black lab (the cat and dog do NOT get along)

and the lab has fought with the cat over those types of beds when he decides to make it his chew toy. Then he will eat her food to taunt her while she hisses and glares at him and then she'll later taunt him when he's behind a gate near their den, staring intently at him... So they keep the cat bed upstairs where he is not allowed to go.

But her box bed here has the flaps nicely tucked in and those flaps were eventually smoothed into place and rounded in the corners from her napping and sleeping in it, so if she's happy with that then I'm happy too.

19. LOL. Whatever it takes to keep the peace!

Heck, if we didn’t elevate the cats’ food on a table, we’d have pandemonium in our house.

There’s a dog-cat gender divide in my house. Newt gets along with my roommate’s male dog, will swipe a piece of kibble off the table to him, then look over to make sure his bro gets it. His dog sister he’s known years longer gets no such favor, and better stay out of his way.

Thankfully, Tweed and Dee are friends and are willing to nap in close proximity on the couch or in the yard.

I’ll contemplate new methods for improving relations all around, but I’m not making any promises.

13. My cat Loki brings socks up from the laundry room

One night he kept running in and out of our room. We just rolled over because who wants to turn the lights on at 3 in the morning?
When we woke up, there was a circle of socks ringed around our bed.
They are goofy critters. I think it was a sign of love, but who knows?

My sister's cat will bring her (literal) chipmunk presents and will deposit them near the patio door after her adventures outside on their deck. I witnessed it personally and was like ewwww....
