Introducing Gibby

I was given two six week old pups in 2004. They died in at the end of 2018 and 2019. Loved them with all my heart and they will never be replaced or forgotten.

Since December '19, the house has been empty without a dog. Good friends know that I'm not cashed up, and for christmas they kicked in a few hundred dollars to go towards a new dog. First choice was a greyhound but I found out that nowhere in our state must a greyhound be off lead - not even in dog friendly areas. And it's not just a little slap on the wrist either. That doesn't fit my style of dog ownership, nor that of my doggie owning friends.

Then I tried the rescue organisations. They do fantastic work, saving, fostering and rehoming dogs but there were barely any small to medium sized dogs looking for homes. My heart breaks for the mastiffs, bull arabs, rottie Xs that need a new home but I need to look out for my friend's dogs and not introduce a dog into the gang who is capable of killing them with one snap.

So... back to the ads. A week ago I found a litter of 13 wk old Jack Russells less than an hour away. Gibby cost more than I had intended, but she's worth it. Tiny, gutsy, funny - it's great to have a pup in the house again.

(The poodle is my friend's dog)

My very best friends live around the corner; we see each other every day. Our old dogs all died within a couple of years and they recently acquired a JRT x Beagle who is eight weeks older than Gibby. We like the idea of the pups growing up together and if they get too bad - can send them to the other house!

Around here virtually all the rescue/shelter dogs are pits or pit mixes. When my daughter wanted a dog I quickly found her a lab puppy in the ads rather than have her come home with a pit bull with 2 little kids in the house.
