My poor boy.

The mighty Zeppelin has had some rough times as of late. He had a pretty big fatty tumor on his front foreleg. We had it removed, had his teeth cleaned, and had a couple lip tags removed he’s been developing.

Had to wear the cone of shame for awhile until it healed. But on the plus side, his breath doesn’t smell like the dumpster behind the Chinese restaurant anymore! And, he’s part Jack Russel. The cone made him docile for awhile. Was like a vacation.

Friday night he had a seizure. He’d had them off and on when he was younger. We had him checked out and they found nothing. And then he didn’t have any for years. So he had one Friday strong enough to make him shit. Not awesome. That never happened before. But he recovered and cool.

Last night he had clusters. He had the first and shit again. Definitely more violent than his earlier years. But he recovered really quick. 20 minutes later, he had the worst I’ve ever seen. Recovery was horrifying. I’m fairly certain he had temporary blindness. He was fucked up. Which of course meant I was fucked up. And he paced for an hour, calmed down, and finally crawled in his den. All good for about 90 minutes. Then he has another. But it was like aftershocks. Mostly muscle stiffness and hyperventilating. Another hour of pacing.

I’d googled this shit after #2 and it said clusters, not pairs. And this one was more mild. Hour later he had another and he went to the animal hospital.
Enoch’s enough. I’m losing it. Had to leave him there. On a Sunday morning. Oh yeah. More than my mortgage. Fortunately, I’m well compensated. But damn! Don’t get me wrong, he’s so worth it. But this month he’s cost me close to a cruise or a at minimum, a 3 day all inclusive. And he is so gonna hear about it! 🤣

Because of his past history and last nights unprecedented severity, looks like he’s on a permanent regiment of anti seize meds.

He broke my heart last night. Multiple times! Little expensive bastard! But the love he returns is worth more than any of that. Can’t wait to pick him up.

Thanks for letting me vent y’all....

I'm surrounded by Aggies and most of them are Republicans.

I slept on my shoulder in a bad position and lost the motor control in my left hand for about five days. I couldn't type, tie my shoes, or lift anything heavy with my left hand. When I closed my hand to make a fist and released it so that my hand was open the middle finger remained in the closed position so I had to stop and move that finger back into the open position with my other hand. Then there was about four days where I had a stomach virus that kept me in close proximity with the bathroom.

Other than that, life is peachy keen.

He is a respiratory therapist and found a job working for a durable medical equipment provider. I'm providing administrative and technical assistance since he has almost no computer experience. At least I have good record-keeping skills.

good luck with your little guy. we had a shockingly large bill for the big moose in our lives last Nov-Dec. he got nailed by a javelina. needed a clean out and a drain put in. lucky it didn't gut him. still a fairly easy surgery that I have done myself on horses, over $600. ouch.

I don’t feel overchargered. They are medical professionals after all. It’s just that it’s four in the morning and, “okay Mr. Glamrock, if we gotta keep him 24 hours it’ll be $1300. If it’s 12 hours, roughly $900...” Bit of a shock to the system for a dog who has ruined all my furniture and carpet.🤣

Again, he’s my best friend and underfoot secretary, he’s fucking irreplaceable.

mine was an abandoned hound that was living in a road culvert, on muddy water and an old road kill deer carcass, now weighs close to 100 lbs, is constantly greasy, stinks and pukes all the time (he has an understandable problem chugging too much water too fast after exercise).

You are like me, I have spent whatever is needed for my best friend/baby and my first baby too. I don't have kids and she is way better than any kid, she is a dog after all so she starts out better.

Our family dog had seizures and pouring corn syrup down her throat stopped it immediately since it turned out to be diabetes. I wonder if CBD oil would help the seizures. My Cox Cable guy said he moved to CA just so he could get CBD medicine for his daughter who had bad seizures. Don't get the kind that has THC. I know that you can easily overdose a dog and that will cost more money at the vet's. They have a special pet type that they sell at my dispensary called My Best Bud.

You didn't say in you post what his age and breed is.

The period of disorientation post-seizure: how long does it take him to return to normal?

I've recently been through increasing seizures.

You drop them off a the door, then wait in the car to talk to the doctor on the phone. They take your credit card info by phone too, so there is as little human contact as possible.

Id never seen a dog have a seizure until our last Lab Molly had one once out of the blue, and to say it freaked me out is an understatement. I know what you’re going through and my heart goes out to you and the Mrs. He sounds like a tough little dude so I hope he’ll be okay on his med regimen and keep driving you crazy for a long long time! They sure have a way of hanging onto our hearts.

I’m sorry you are going through all of this. But I sure understand the love.

I have a Zeppelin too. He is a 10 year old Coton. Unfortunately he has cancer. He had a mast cell tumor removed from his muzzle last September. It grew back a few weeks later. Vet put him on Palladia and the tumor did go away, but now he has 3 new tumors, and the cancer is in his lymph nodes. It doesn’t seem to be causing him any problems yet, but he’s now on a third round of chemo and steroids. So I’m going to have to pack several years of spoiling him into a much shorter time period.
