Related: About this forumMy three lost dogs.
On June 20th of this year, my three amigos dug out from under my fence and disappeared into the Apalachicola forest area in Midway, Florida. I've done everything in my power to bring them back home but it hasn't worked.
I've called all over, posted on several lost pet listings on Facebook and Craigslist for my area. Have visited the local humane society, been in touch with animal control and the park services. Nothing.
I am beyond devastated and have been crying nearly nonstop for 2 weeks. This is the three of them as youngsters.
This is Mali.
This is Harley.
This is Lola
Just posting this to let you know to hug your babies tight and give them extra treats for me. You never know when something like this can happen.

(5,639 posts)They might still come back. I had a cat that was gone for over a year and it came back one night.
Never give up hope!

(16,376 posts)Are you sure they dug out? You don't think they were taken do you? I, too, would be beside myself.

(10,053 posts)What heartbreak to go through, I wish I could give you a hug.
Forgive me if my question offends you - is there any chance that someone found them and turned them into your county animal shelter or Humane Society? I have friends who have been going online looking for pups to adopt and there are many that are held and not available for adoption because they are waiting for owners to claim them.

(6,069 posts)Gadsden county Florida animal control has their pictures and the officer assures me he will call. The Himane society lady, Judy is on the case too. Thanks for the virtual hug. I need it tonight.

(6,069 posts)Neighbors saw them run off into the woods 2 weeks ago and they haven't been seen since. They were all wearing harnesses with I'd tags. I am just devastated.

My baby died on June 2 and I am devasted! I know how you feel. When she ran away once(looking for me) I freaked out...I think it took 25 years off of my life. Today was supposed to be my birthday but I cancelled it since I still am crying all the time and can't even pretend to be happy.

(6,069 posts)They become such a strong part of our lives. I am rescuing a dog Monday and that will help me heal from this tragedy.

(51,582 posts)It doesn't cost much and some places do it for free. That was the only thing that kept me sane when I temporarily had mine take off looking for me.
I can't get another dog since it would outlive me. Than it would be a sad orphan and I can't do that to a fur baby...they love us so much! My little girl was very, very attached and a little sweetie that I loved to hold and hug...I never felt such soft hair on a dog before. I miss her A TON. Uh oh, here I go , crying AGAIN. I am out of tissues and am using TP.

They look like they might have a lot of Beagle in them? They are notorious for following their noses for miles, and then can't find their way back home.
How about posting something with every veterinarian in the area? Mine has a bulletin board for just such things. Include pictures. Our local grocery store has the same thing, and so does Tractor Supply.
Another thought....you said they were wearing their harnesses. Maybe they got caught on something in the woods? Nylon doesn't break. Can you, or a couple people, walk through those woods?
My evil neighbors when I lived in Calif. cut the lock on my gate to let my dogs out. One stayed right around, but the Borzoi took off across country. I nearly lost my mind. I put a notice up at the local post office with her picture and offered a reward. I got a number of calls within hours that people had seen her laying beside the road going up into the mountains. Sure enough, I went tearing up there, and she was laying in a ditch, totally exhausted and dehydrated. SOOOOO glad to find her, and she was very glad to be found.
Hang in there.

(5,160 posts)Do you have contacts with groups who can help you? Like rescue groups, ring camera "neighbors" link, etc.
Local humane societies and dog pounds?
Were they chipped?
Years ago a friend of mine lost her beagle/jack type mix from the baggage department airport at LGA. This little dog was hurt in transit, freaked out, and somehow got out of the cage. The pup crossed multiple heavy, NY heavy, traffic lanes and ended up in the Jackson Heights area and was reported 3 months later. Little dog was found in a mechanics back yard hiding in the tires. A little boy was feeding him and by chance saw one of the flyers months later.
My friend never gave up with the posting of flyers all over the place, and reached out to everyone she could.
I hope you find your babies.
I am so very sorry for your deep pain.

(5,160 posts)if I can help in any way? Let us know ... I think the pain is just as close as losing a close loving family member.

(6,069 posts)Just venting helps. Knowing that others understand your pain. I don't have any kids or grandchildren so, they were my family along with my wife. We are both suffering. Thank you for the kindness.
