Some people shouldn't own animals.

It was 107 degrees when I got off work. I stopped by a local grocery store to pick up a few things and as I was getting ready to head back out to my car a woman came in upset. As she parked she noticed that there was a dog in the vehicle next to where she parked. One window of the car was open. She and I both commented that you do not leave animals in a vehicle when the temperature is as hot as it is today. We said something to some of the store workers and the woman got out her cell phone and called the police. The police asked her to stay until they arrived. I told her that I would stay with her.

Someone must have found the owner because she came out of the store, on her cell phone, complaining that someone was making a big deal about her leaving her dog in her car. She mumbled that if someone had a problem with it they can just call the police. The other lady and I piped up that you do not leave dogs in cars in this weather and the police have been called.

She walked over to her car, started it up to put all the windows down and walked back into the store (bitching, moaning and complaining the whole time). It wasn't too long before she came back out, threw what she got in the car, and got out of there in a hurry. We figured that deep down inside she knew she was in the wrong because she put all the windows down and didn't waste a lot of time getting out of there. Unfortunately she took off before the police got there (not having learned anything and claiming how much she loved her dog).

She had the nerve to tell the other lady and I that people like us were why bad things happened. What an idiot. I am sorry that she didn't get a chance to talk to the police. I would not hesitate to do it again.

She has the habit of keeping her dogs locked in her car for "never too long" she claims.

It seems a couple passing through spotted her car w/dog inside and called the police.

This woman was cited for animal cruelty!

She had to get a lawyer for $2,000.00 and she had to go to court and fight the charges as she could have ended up in jail for a year she was told, so, she fought the charges and won actually by having 150 character witnesses on her side whatever the hell that means.

In any event, I rather doubt she'll be driving around leaving her dogs locked up in the car/truck any more.

It is too bad that the cops did not get there in time on this woman you mention in your post.

Heat like that call kill an animal very fast as you already know and shame on those that are so selfish that do things like this. They do not deserve to own anything, much less a dog or a cat or anything else that is alive and breathing IMO!!

my cell phone has a camera on it with a time mark. take a picture of the dog locked in thr car, take both front and back plates. try to get a witness who will stay with you till the cops/fire dept get there. go into the building/mall/store, make a huge use the car description and plate. Do Not Be Embarassed...make a huge freaking deal. I do look like a middle class upper middle class lady, often in surgical scrubs, so i look responsible, and i find that helps. thank you for looking out for the dog. Making a big freaking stink for the weaker among us, kids, grandparents, animals, is the right think to do. this is a mitzvah. much respect irisblue, human to alex the wonder dog, much missed, duke, the golden angel princess pretty paws, and the cats mojo, majik, squirty and kira love.
this makes me so made
