The 4 Finalists for National Cat of the Year
Cat Protections, the UKs largest feline welfare charity, hosts an annual celebration of cats known as the National Cat Awards.
The four finalists: A nine-year-old cat named Minty who helps his human brother, Connor, who suffers from learning disabilities and mental conditions. The 3-legged white cat is more than Connors best friend, he is a calming presence during emotional breakdowns, and a great teacher.
Penelope, a beautiful calico, is selected for helping alert her mom, Zoe, when a seizure attack is coming on. Zoe suffers from multiple medical issues that make her more susceptible to breaking bones and seizures.
Mikey, a one-eyed stray cat who helped his mom, Jessica, overcome a devastating loss, a stillborn baby. When Mikey entered her life, the black cat was also in need of love and recovery and together they came out stronger.
An orange tabby named Boris and his 80-year-old friend, Alex, are inseparable. Both have endured hard times but found strength and comfort in each others company. Alex had a stroke several years ago and is now confined to a bed, but his loyal companion stays right by his side.
Cats are not only a constant source of entertainment but loyal companions who help us through lifes ups and downs.
This years winner is Minty.
