I am waiting at a vet office 50 miles from home

It doesn't look good. She has an impacted colon that is impeding her bladder. I am not optimistic for a good outcome so I am preparing myself for another loss. My brother is coming to sit with me since it will be a 4 or 5 hour wait to be seen.

She might need surgery. Hopefully she can be saved but my vet said it could also be a neurological issue, which would be really bad

It’s amazing what kittens will eat. Vacuum cleaner belts, for instance. One of my newly adopted fosters ate the rubber Easter bunny in the child’s Easter basket. Both of these were success stories, though they involved surgery.

I know I would donate.

I once had a rabbit who needed emergency surgery because he was impacted. He was just a little dwarf rabbit, about 3 and a half pounds, and he survived and thrived for another decade.

Here is a great site for understanding euthanasia in case that is what you and your vet decide. There is lots of great info here
http://www.pet-informed-veterinary-advice-online.com/pet-euthanasia.html

I've lived on and worked on farms and had lots of pets. My father was a professor of Animal Science at MSU down the road from you. I learned a lot about animals from him
.Also I was married to a Euthanasia Technician and saw and helped with it many times. It is a very peaceful thing is done right with the two shot procedure. One dog had a cancer on it's foot. A wonderful black lab. Had not been able to put his foot down on the ground for many months and was in obvious pain. The first shot relax him enough for him to put his foot down for the first time in months. The owner held the relaxed dogs head on his lap as the second shot was given. The dog gave a sigh, closed his eyes and peacefully passed. When it comes to my time, I'd be more than happy to go to vet.
We love our pets and then one day they break our hearts and leave us. I feel it very important not to let them suffer more than needed. To go beyond that is for us and not them.
Best of luck to you and kitty.

with laxatives after cleaning her out. My sister's cat had this problem and he was on laxatives the rest of his life. I think they call it mega colon. I hope this is the answer for you.

She is over 20 years old. These are not exactly like a manx. The way their spines just kinda "cut off" it makes them prone to impactions. We went thru a horrible time with Izzie a few years ago. We were taking her in every few weeks with another impaction. She'd end up staying there for another 3-4 days. The routine was a few days of laxatives, when that didn't work out, they'd end up digging it out. It's pretty much what happened with my Mom when she'd get in the same shape. We now make sure each of her gushy meals also contains some mineral oil. This has worked so well, we've not had any issues with impaction. We also keep a close eye on her deposits, just to make sure she's not running into any issues.

I'm surprised the vet hasn't told you they were going to get the baby overnight and into tomorrow, and told you to go home. If it's just a simple impaction that's impeding the her urine, ask why they don't just dig her out. My Izzie isn't much larger than a kitten, even at full grown. Izzie barely weighs 5 pounds, even at 21 years old. I will say getting her through all her troubles wasn't inexpensive, tho. Each trip to get her thru the impaction episode was no less than $500, and yes... it was for a cat we rescued. She was due to be euthanized the evening of the day we adopted her. Now that I think of it, she's about to turn 22 next week! We adopted her the week before Halloween!

I'm sending lots of purrs and hugs to you and your baby... they're so very special... every single one of them. May the vet get things flowing right again. May you have many more days with his antics. Just know we're all here pulling for both you and the kitten!

Devon, my Golden, was in for surgery on her spleen. We knew it was cancer but hoping the tumor could be removed. It was. Eight months later another came back. We did surgery again. We had another half year and the diagnosis was bad. I said no more surgery. The other alternative was chemo. I decided no. Devon had been through enough. When Devon and I walked out of the hospital the sun was shining. I told Devon we were free and we were happy. I had her for another glorious six months. We enjoyed every moment and then one day we knew it was time. I am saying this because you are not alone. We all understand. You strike me as an optimistic person. Stay that way. Morgan has you. That makes her one lucky little lady. 🥰
