Related: About this forumWe lost our beloved Cookie
She had been in decline for a few months, and she crossed Rainbow Bridge within the last hour. A blessing, I guess, but it doesn't feel that way.
She was a good girl. She gave us much joy.
Al held her as she crossed, and her youngest pup (Audry) even jumped into the chair and said "goodbye."

Shit, there's been a lot of that going around in the last several weeks, including here at casa de calimary.
Why do they have to have such short lifespans? Sometimes I find myself wishing they could live as long as we do, and go when we do. So maybe we can all wind up at the Rainbow Bridge at the same time.

May Audry help to bring you some comfort as your memories sustain you.

(32,968 posts)There is a lovely sunny October day photo I have of my heart dog running thru a pile of fallen leaves; for some reason I took a second snap after he left the frame. Here and Gone.
Alex The Wonder Dog & I were there that day, and it was a damn good day. I have sharp clear memories of that, which are making me a bit weepy as I type this. That dog still 10 years on gives me so much.

It's never easy.
