Dog thought to be lost on I-89 in New Hampshire leads police to scene of crash, injured owner

HARTFORD, Vt. —
A dog thought to be lost on a New England highway is being lauded for leading police to the scene of a serious rollover crash involving its owner.

The New Hampshire State Police department said Tuesday that one of its troopers responded at about 10 p.m. Monday to a report of a loose dog on the Veteran's Memorial Bridge located on Interstate 89 at the New Hampshire-Vermont state border in Lebanon.

The NHSP trooper and Lebanon police officers found what they believed was a large German shepherd on I-89 north and when they approached the dog, it continued to run north on the highway and crossed into Hartford, Vermont.

A short time later, police noticed a damaged section of the guardrail near the Interstate 91 and Interstate 89 junction and then found a badly-damaged pickup truck that had rolled over.

"They could tell the dog was trying to show them something because she kept trying to get away from them but didn't run away totally," said New Hampshire State Police Lt. Daniel Baldassarre. "It was kind of, 'Follow me. Follow me.' And they did that and, to their surprise, to see the guardrail damaged and to look down to where the dog is looking at, they were almost in disbelief."

What is a Shiloh Shepherd?

The Shiloh Shepherd is a giant shepherd dog bred to be larger, calmer, and more family-friendly. Shilohs sprang from German shepherd lines which were then mixed with other breeds to improve health and develop the breed's distinct look and temperament.

That Timmy kid was always in the well, caught in a fence, or some other thing.

This is a wonderful story, though. Thanks for posting.

Timmy did manage to fall in the following (a partial list): two lakes, a gap between two railroad cars, two abandoned mines, quicksand, and a badger hole. That kid should have stayed in his room playing video games.
His great uncle fell in a well and his dad fell in a well. Also lassie fell in a well. Info from Woot.
I had to check. I just had to.

We can be out in the woods on the morning walk. If I say come on let's go in. I mostly get ignored. If I say come on let's get breakfast. Guess who comes running. Dopey dog.
If I say want to go to Lowe's. He will run in circles. I have never had a dog that loves all people like this dog does. He is a chick magnet. Oh he is so cute. Oh he is so cute. Of course the old guy line is. Yer talking about me right.
