you are still going to sleep snugly with all of that insulation nearby. I use my cat''s belly fur when I need a handwarmer.

Well, we kept each other warm. Along with no power, it was bitter cold. You could see your breath in parts of the house. I lose NOTHING from the refrigerator. Fortunately, the pipes didn't freeze.

I closed off the den, kept the fireplace going and snuggled with the girls, covered with 2 feather comforters.

I am having my challenges with Mikey. He has been establishing our little four unit area as his and a couple kitties from the neighbors' are protesting a bit. He got into it with one of them yesterday so he's been inside and he isn't thrilled about that when he has to go. He starts to tear stuff up if he doesn't get his way sometimes. Usually he'll get over it but today, he was in a kind of ornery but somewhat playful mood and after a few minutes of arguing about going outside - it's mostly about he hates the litter box though he has the best, cleanest one in town - I heard him over in the kitchen area beating up a toilet paper roll. I got up to check on him and he had also torn out a few tufts of fiberglass from the underside of the dishwasher door!

WTF? He had some in his mouth so I grabbed him and pulled that out, then cleaned up the mess. Geeze!

I don't think he ate any but I can imagine he has some embedded in his mouth. Otherwise, he's a very loving cat who appreciates the love returned. He has been horribly traumatized by the past six months of living too close to wildness, his scars show that he has bird of prey scars on his head. Sometimes when he's sleeping he whimpers, I know he had to suffer injuries, the healing and the whole ordeal alone because his human never even knew he had been injured. She barely gives him notice. She'll pet and brush him outside but she rarely notices his injuries or doesn't think they warrant care from her. Weird.

It's only been three + weeks here, once we have a regular routine, he'll handle it better. So far he's been pretty good because he trusts me and knows I'll treat his ills. We've only had a couple really big arguments, so far. I find if I don't act excited when he's trying to get me upset because he can't have something, I just deal with it silently, he discovers his ploy was worthless. It's a psych game with an older cat. He usually gets what he's asking for but on my terms. Making him wait a few minutes is the same as plucking out his whiskers in his world, I'm sure.

One thing I noticed is that he has learned what, "You need to calm down" means since he's been living with the young dog his human got a couple years ago. When he starts getting bratty, I tell him that and he turns around, walks over to one of his beds and lays down for at least ten minutes. But I can only use it once for each issue, he has had it by the time I tell him again after ten minutes is up.

Anyway, I hope he didn't get too much of that insulation in his mouth, yikes. After it gets light, I let him out for a while. He comes back after about an hour and then he's good for a while. I don't leave him out when I go somewhere, go to sleep or take a shower. I just don't want to leave the door open and he stays in at night. If he gets bratty about it, I put a couple drops of hemp oil in some food and he decides to just chill out instead after about twenty minutes. Sleeps all night after that.

Hope the kitties at your house all have a nice day, and you too!

When I was having trouble with Sophie, it was recommended as something to try. I opted for some calming gel that went on her paws. It kind of worked. Unfortunately she crossed the rainbow bridge before I could try the difuser. But, the people at the pet supply store highly recommended it.

I don't think I would use one. I don't like the ones for making your house smell better, they make my sinuses drain constantly, heaven knows what's actually in them.

The hemp oil is organic, make it myself, and have used it with him for a few years now. It helps his wounds heal faster and without much of the pain, CBDs are wonderful things. The extra benefit is that it calms him down and he sleeps, which he can do without the survival mode activated because he's indoors. He appreciates it most of the time. We seem to go through this on occasion, it just freaked me out that he was tearing up fiberglass.

I think I'll stick with the hemp oil, it's harmless and does what we both need, him calming down and me not having to replace a bunch of stuff and know that he's in a good place so I can sleep too.

We're working it out, I'll send him back to his human when it gets cold out, she lets him stay in the house then, he goes out to do his business but he gets to go back inside after and she feeds him better. My place is too small for that. He's eight now so I'm hoping I can convince him that indoors is a better way to go, especially at night. We'll see.

Right now Arthur's fixation is 'Q-tips'. He flips and rolls them all over the floor. I thought I had them all cleaned up from the 'spillage' but he keeps finding them.

Every once in a while Gryff will come running up with one in his mouth and we play fetch until one of us tires out.
