Cat (or dog) parents - Electric water fountain question.

We have an electric water fountain for our cats, and they love it.

My husband thinks it could be a potential fire hazard if it were knocked over, so we unplug it any time we leave the house, as well as overnight. It is quite heavy when full of water, so I think it pretty unlikely that the cats could or would tip it over. Our female tuxie peeps at me if I forget to plug it back in when we get home.

Any thoughts from other electric fountain users?

We also do put out regular water bowls in 2 separate locations.

It’s not very big but sturdy n quiet. Never had any problems w/ it and I take it apart to clean it. My cat puts her paws in it every once in a while but never moves it or turns it over. 🐾

2. Could you mount a bracket to the wall on either (both) side of the tank?

Either the brackets alone, or in conjunction with a strap, should prevent tippage.

If it's full of water it's heavy enough that it's very unlikely to be knocked over. If the water doesn't keep circulating it will get stagnant and icky. I have this one:

4. I have the same one. I only unplug when I clean it, or change filter.

6. We've had this fountain for years. Too heavy to tip when full of water. The cats love it.

We only unplug if we are gone overnight, same as we unplug other appliances.
