A couple of them had their eyes glued shut with an infection. The vet looked VERY concerned and put all of them on eye drops and antibiotics. He also said they were small, even for 3 weeks old. I spent well over a week feeding them every 3 hours and giving them medications. And, of course, cuddling with them.

I can distinctly remembering celebrating the first time I realized they were able to eat a milky slurry of food and poop and pee on their own. And how fast they figured out the quickest way to get my attention was to climb up my leg.

and will be climbing up the living room drapes in no time, knocking stuff over at 3 AM, and developing that "who, me?" look for when he gets caught on the kitchen counters.

He's also why people get sucked into taking kittens home.

how old he is now. I think you said recently. I know Madoc and Gryff will be two years old and Carys is maybe 8 months old?

That was the first day I saw him and his siblings and I knew they were newborn because they weren't there the day before.

Here are mine. When picture was taken, they were about 5 days old.
I did not organize them, they did this themselves.
I had to lay on the carpet quietly, to keep from waking them up, to take this photo.

It is an amazing experience to nurture tiny, helpless kittens. I have such a strong bond with Madoc and Arthur.

I was looking to get kittens, but covid was about to end and I was about to head back to the office, when another wave roared through.

One day I saw a feral cat roaming in my back yard. Looked like she was experiencing malnutrition, so I put a saucer of water on my deck.
Someone drank it, but I didn't know who, since I also attract raccoons, skunks and possums. So I put out another saucer of water.
Second time I saw the cat drinking. So the next day, I put out a saucer of milk. Again the same cat drank the milk. After about 3 or 4 more days of milk, I put out cat food. She ate a can in about 5 minutes.
Now that she was getting closer I could see her softball size tummy, she was pregnant. So I continued to feed her to get some strength.
After about 2 weeks, she started trusting me and would jump up on the flower bed to eat before I could get the food out the can.
I then started putting the food just inside the back door. She would enter cautiously but after she finished eating, she would roam the house, but wouldn't enter more that about 5-6 feet from the door.

Then one day she showed up and her softball was gone. She dropped her litter. So I told the neighbors to be on the lookout for a litter.
About 5 days later, the little girl ran across the street screaming "We found them, we found them". They were watering the front yard and accidentally watered the newborns laying in a dirt hole. I had a box ready for them, so I picked them up and placed them in the box and brought them to my house.
I opened the back door to allow the mom to show up, which she did within 30 minutes.
I showed her the box, she looked puzzled, jumped in and sniffed the kitten and realized they were hers. So she started licking them clean and then nursed them. Mom has never left the house and now sleeps on my bed at night.
The 2 on the left are boys, and I gave those away. I kept the female on the right and named her Dora as in Dora the Explorer, which describes her perfectly. I kept the mom and named her Romi because she roamed the neighborhood.
Mom & daughter look identical to the point that I can't tell them apart except for the collar.

That's how I got 2 cats playing, exploring and sleeping in my house.

Right now I'm snuggled down with Arthur, Madoc and Carys. Sometimes Gryff likes to sleep on the table.

I get so much more from these kitcats than I ever imagined possible.
