... but I haven't met too many teachers who could talk a teen out of chewing gum.

Don't they first try to TALK the perp into surrounder? They don't just rush in with guns blazing especially when it is a hostage situation.

In real life they MIGHT say 'drop the weapon' and they MIGHT even wait long enough for the perp to do it, in an active shooter situation, but usually, no. They give the shooter acute lead poisoning.

In a hostage situation they will usually try to talk the perp into surrender. Except if shooting has started. Once the perp fires the first shot then they go into full assault mode.

In an active shooter situation the current police doctrine is for the first responders to aggressively enter and engage the shooter.

Why didn't California's high Brady rating stop this in the first place? Weren't there signs put up on the entrances? So much failure...
