Criminals gun helps child save family.

http://abclocal.go.com/wabc/story?section=news/local/new_york&id=9126361

Authorities say they demanded cash from the terrified victims. Instead they got a big dose of courage from a 10-year-old boy.

When one of the thugs dropped his gun, Eyewitness News told the little boy picked up the weapon in a flash and fired at him. He missed.

The second man fired a shot back. He missed too.

But it was clear the gunmen did not hold all the power, so they fled.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Since this is NY I wonder if the firearm he used had 7 or fewer rounds? Could he be charged?
When I ask what defense of guns would not be considered such, I never get a response.
When you equate self-defense with murder, you destroy all common ground from which meaningful conversation can grow.
Obviously you must understand the difference, which begs the question, why post such inflammatory nonsense that will only result in distancing us further from solving the problems of violence in our nation?
in using a weapon to defend himself, even if that weapon has the potential to kill the perpetrator?
If so, do you believe that an adult would also be so justified?
Finally, if an adult is justified in using a weapon capable of fatal effect to defend himself, when does it become imperative that he/she be disarmed so as to reduce the hypothetical threat of using that weapon in an unjustified manner?
When? Today. I'm one of those crazed lefties that wants your guns. Pretty much all of them. I have two firearms at home, and I don't fear using them, but enough is enough. One kid surviving a shootout with a potential killer does not justify any of this.
I'm totally done with the insanity of the gun culture in this country.
all of the dead caused by them. Are yous disassembled and locked in a safe? If not then YOU are responsible for the death and injury of children. Do you have a permit to posses firearms, to posses the ammo for them? Do you allow the police to perform checks of your storage without a warrant, if not then YOU are creating an atmosphere of fear in your neighborhood.
to disarm people to prevent unjustified uses. Today. Self defense examples do not justify unjust uses.
Yet you still own guns. Your words seem at odds with your actions.
heirlooms do have sentimental value
Yet under the 'turn em all in' plan, you would have to surrender both; no handguns would mean giving up the Colt.
According to some DU posters however, you are sufficiently armed so that you are part of the gun culture and do have blood of children on your hands...
You are more likely to have your firearms stolen and used in a crime, even with "safe storage". If you are a true supporter of gun control then you need to be rid of ALL of yours. Otherwise you are nothing but a gunhumper with dreams of killing.
If you have a gun it will be taken away from you and used against you ... by a 10 year old kid.
Who'd a thought? Chalk one up for their side.
