Drunken man arrested with gun

Police arrested a Springfield man they say broke the law by drinking several beers before hiding in the bushes in front of his house, waiting for vandals and armed with a loaded assault rifle.

The man’s attorney says the case should be thrown out.

When police arrived at the North Broadway Avenue home early Sunday morning, they found Lucas R. Burney, 33, armed with an “SKS assault rifle” with one round in the chamber and a 30-round magazine loaded to capacity, according to a probable cause statement used to file a charge of unlawful use of a weapon by an intoxicated person.

A neighbor had called police to report Burney pointing the gun at their house, according to police.

Stand his ground.

And his poor neighbors who can have that piece of shit point his gun their way any night of the week. Is this fair to all those gun owners here? How would like to have a neighbor who gets drunk and points his gun at your house? Now only imagine people who don't need a gun to live, and to have this nut live within shooting distance of your home.

If one of your family members gets killed, are you going to blame the beer?

nobody is attacking him. Stand your ground simply means that you don't have a duty to retreat if you safely can (if you can't safely retreat, or retreat the issue is moot.)

Stand your ground is to shoot anyone who you "think" is threatening you. And he thought those kids on the bike were the suspects. Why not stay indoors and watch through a window and call the police? No, he was ready and waiting for those little shits to pass his way again. They always get away.

think is using the reasonable person standard. Getting your head pounded in the sidewalk certainly qualifies.

And he thought those kids on the bike were the suspects.
That is based on the the disinformation campaign from Parks and Crump, the same ambulance chasers that told Piers Morgan that he had a duty to endure the pounding until the cops got there 90 seconds later. Had he have done that, the deceased would be doing 5-7 for felony assault at best, shot by the cops at worst.

Contrary to popular belief, the SKS is not an assault rifle, because the basic design lacks both a selective fire capability and a detachable magazine. The SKS's ten-round box magazine is fed from a stripper clip and rounds stored in the magazine can be removed by depressing a magazine catch located forward of the trigger guard (thus opening the "floor" of the magazine and allowing the rounds to fall out).[2] In typical military use the stripper clips are disposable. If necessary they can be reloaded multiple times and reused.

While there may be after market 30 mags, I have found 20 round mags, the standard USSR issue was 10 rounds.

should be ban cars? Bring back the Volstead Act? Using isolated cases to push public policy doesn't seem very rational.

For that matter never drink.

Drinking can lead to slowed reaction times and can result death from an attack.

Safety first, always stay clean and sober don't be a more willing victim.
