Guns Seized at WappapelloAfter a convicted felon reportedly made threats to kill his mother on New Year’s Eve, authorities found 11 firearms at a Wappapello residence.
Randolph D. Conway, 56, was charged Thursday, Jan. 2, with two Class C felonies of unlawful possession of a weapon. He was also charged with a Class A misdemeanor of harassment. When arrested, he was in possession of a Ruger semiautomatic rifle and a short-barrelled shotgun. Conway allegedly had spoken to his mother on the telephone and threatened her and wished her dead, according to a probable cause statement. He then showed up at her residence. He stayed inside the vehicle and telephoned his mother once more. During the course of another argument, Conway stated that if Theodore Conway came outside the residence, he would shoot him. http://www.waynecojournalbanner.com/news/article_4bc78726-7a2b-11e3-a07b-001a4bcf6878.html

1. As a convicted felon, he was ineligible to own them.
Therefore, they were seized. What's your point?
Oddly, though the lead-in mentions 11 firearms, the second paragraph lists only two. I wonder why. |

2. The 2 firearms were in his possession when he was arrested.
The article isn't clear but my understanding is that he was arrested sitting in his vehicle outside of his mother's house. The police then searched and found an arsenal of 11 firearms at his residence.

4. Not according to the article.
The 2 firearms were in his possession when he was arrested.
The article isn't clear but my understanding is that he was arrested sitting in his vehicle outside of his mother's house. The police then searched and found an arsenal of 11 firearms at his residence. The short-barreled shotgun was found in the house. The Wayne County Sheriff’s Department were contacted. Deputies obtained verbal and written permission to search Conway’s residence. Eleven firearms were discovered, including handguns, shotguns, and rifles of various calibers. Among the firearms seized was a Winchester 12-guage shotgun that had its barrel and stock cut; the barrel measured nine inches in length.
Unless there were two short-barreled shotguns. You're right that the article isn't clear. But what do you expect from a reporter who can't spell "gauge"? I lament the sorry state of journalism. |

6. Federal crime for the cut down shotgun deserves federal time.

3. will he be turned over to the feds
for felon in possession? With them it is a mandatory minimum of five years. I'm guessing the short barreled shotgun is unregistered and without tax stamp. That's another federal rap, oh wait http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Haynes_v._United_States
